Description: A view by a beach looking down on five Maori canoes, three with people in them, three moored, two floating. Further Maori are standing on shore with one pushing off (or pulling in) a canoe. A manned rowboat is in the next small bay. The view is probably looking south east towards the southern shore of Whangarei Harbour. There are large birds, identified as shags, perched on the branches of a pohutukawa by the beach.
