Description: Correspondence of three generations, with comment on political and social life in England and conditions in Natal. John and Charles Flinders Hursthouse write from New Plymouth 1843-1854, describing conditions, land purchase problems. The latter's `Account of the settlement of New Plymouth...London' 1849, and his lecture tours on behalf of the New Zealand Company are covered. The remainder of the collection fills out information on the family through letters, papers and accounts.
