Description: A view looking down on Haulashore Island, where there are five small buildings. There are three sailing ships, two of them within the bay inshore of the island. This pencil sketch was published in Making New Zealand, Vol. 1, no. 6 p. 23. According to a note on the work's folder, it was copied from Lowther Broad's Jubilee history of Nelson... (1892), p. 17. The view in Broad is a reproduction of a William Fox watercolour 1848, which is in the Hocken Library (previously in Bett Collection). The original watercolour shows some of the buildings on Haulashore Island appearing to be more like tents, whereas McLintock has depicted them as rectangular buildings. Quantity: 1 drawing(s).
