Description: Hadfield describes his journey down the East Coast with the Rev Henry Williams and others in the `Columbine', their arrival at Port Nicholson, visit to Cloudy Bay, the return to Port Nicholson, their walk from Wellington to Porirua and thence to Mana Island where Hadfield first met with Te Rangihaeata. He describes meeting Te Rauparaha at Kapiti, and records his impressions of Waikanae and his first visit to the villages near Otaki. Description: Scrapbook relating Mark Averi's involvement with the Royal Port Nicholson Yacht Club. Mainly photographs of yachts with some people shown. Portraits of yachts including: 'Shemara', 'Gazelle', 'Camille', 'Ondine' and 'Odette'. One image is a group portrait of the crew of Phil Hartley's yacht the 'Camille' (1969). Also includes newsclippings, printed certificates, lists of prize winners, and two typed accounts of trips on the yacht 'Gazelle' Title supplied by Library. Calender family : Papers relating to passengers on the Bolton

Description: The papers consist of a volume containing transcriptions of letters written by (Eliza?) Hargreaves and (apparently) Sarah Falwasser, passengers on the Bolton, 1839-1840. The letters are addressed to Mrs Calender and Miss C and describe the voyage out and life in Port Nicholson during the first half of 1840 and observations of Maori life and customs. The volume also contains newspapers clippings about Rev J F Churton and his family. Also included is a number of newspaper clippings, a race card from the 1851 Auckland races, Dora Churton's dance card and a copies of letters relating to provenance. Source of title - Supplied title Accompanying material - Accompanied by copies of letters relating to provenance Rev John Frederick Churton was incumbent of the parish of Threapwood at Wrexham immediately prior to his emigration. Eliza Hargreaves and Sarah Falwasser were also from Wrexham. Presumably the Calenders were Wrexham residents who compiled this collection about their emigrant friends. Description: Three silver medals welded to form a long brooch, joined to show two reverses on the outside and the obverse in the centre. The reverse shows a sailing ship (the Aurora) in the harbour, with a Maori canoe and a rising sun beyond the hills, with text 'Wellington N. Z. January 22nd 1840'. It is signed "Ro" 1. The obverse shows ships at the wharves and wharf sheds of 1890, with text 'In commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the colony, 1890. The clasp of the brooch is broken Quantity: 1 curio(s).
