Description: Copy of a map with annotations added showing the proposed railway station layout. Station land bounded by Quay Street (harbour side), Breakwater Road and Beach Road (west), The Strand (south), and extends east to beyond Gladstone Road (Westfield line). Includes the proposed new main north line to Whangarei (crosses Beach Road and enters tunnel), and the existing northbound line passing over the Parnell Bridge at the junction of Stanley Street and Alpha Road. Buildings marked include: outward goods shed (near Kings Wharf, Auckland Farmers Freezing Co. and R & W Hellaby), future outward goods shed, inwards goods shed, repair shop, engine shed, car repair shed and machine shop. The Station building and four platforms are also marked, with the Beach Street frontage of the station having a roadway, large ornamental plot and car parking. Description: Survey map of Auckland Harbour Board land required for Railway purposes. The land is bounded by a planned Quay Street extension across an area of reclaimed land, and by King's Drive. The existing Railway land is lots 3006 (which is crossed by Breakwater Road) and 12167. The map also shows sections of Customs Street, Beach Road, Quay Street and Railway Wharf to the left of the existing yards, and Factory Road, Selwyn Terrace and St. George's Bay Road to the right. Description: Shows "Gulf of Shouraka" (Hauraki Gulf), Coromandel, Waiheke district, soundings, and some Maori and English placenames (sometimes mis-spelt). Shows Manukau and Waitemata harbours. River Thames refers to the Firth of Thames. Compiled largely from the work of Dumont D'Urville and crew of Astrolabe, 1827, during his exploration of New Zealand, and possibly others. Possibly taken from British Admiralty Chart of the same area published in 1836 - (from Brian Hooker). Drawn by Mudie for the Clint's Establishment, Sydney, ca. 1838 (see AT 13/13 8.7.91 (Hooker)). Description: Photograph of a proposed cadastral town planning map of the suburb of Orakei which is drawn on a base map showing the relief of the Orakei peninsula. The base map includes the route of the railway line and all roads are un-named, except for the Promenade. Carparking areas, the town hall and public buildings, schools, churches, the Oval, children's playgrounds, playing fields, a tea house, baths, shops, the university, flats and private hotels, are marked. Blocks of land between the roads are subdivided into sections and each includes the site of a house. Title supplied by cataloguer. Date of publication estimated from other planning maps of the time. The subject of Map No. 2 includes miscellaneous information additional to that shown on District Scheme Map No. 1. These are building lines, positions of intersections and streets to be deviated. Description: Three maps of Rangitoto survey district. The first (Accn 1828) shows cadastral information of blocks I, II, V, X11 in the Tiritiri survey district, namely Motutapu Island, with reference to O.L.C. 164, DP 12402, land lots, the Defence reserve, Hurakia (Rakino) Island, and Waiheke Island's Matiatia Bay. The second (Accn 1829) shows blocks X, XI, XIII of Rangitoto and Otahuhu survey districts, specifically the Tamaki River, Karaka Bay, Motukorea or Brown's Island, the base of Motutapu Island, and the Motuihi Island domain in the Waitemata Harbour. Description: Drawn on a published map, the annotations depict river discharge limits into the sea and seasonal limits of sport fishing areas. A handwritten reference key denotes river and smooth water limits of river mouths, major harbours and straits in blue. The red shaded area denotes extended and partially smooth limits of outer harbours, part of the Hauraki Gulf, Firth of Thames, the top of the Coromandel peninsula and around Great Barrier Island. Two semicircles outlined in green are not included in the reference key but probably denote extreme limits. One extends from Sail Rock around the Mercury and Alderman Islands to a point south of the Tairua River, while the second extends from a point south of Bream Tail around Little Barrier Island to the vicinity of Motuora Island. Green lines, drawn from Bream Tail eastwards and northwards, extend to the latitude of Wide Berth Island which denote an area of seasonal sports fishing, including dates. Description: Surveyor's map, drawn on a page taken from a book and copied from an aperture card, of the paddock adjacent to the parsonage of St. Mark's Church, Remuera. Includes the position of the parsonage, lennox, cowshed, waterhole and gully. Contour lines are drawn and include the vertical distances between each one, referred to in a reference key, and surface measurements for labour purposes. Three sides of the paddock have measurements in feet. This map is accompanied by signed and dated surveyor's recommendations, and both have '1' stamped on the top left corner. The surveyor's report states the following: Report on general Church Trust paddock - drainage scheme. As the paddock will probably be used for grazing not agricultural purposes, I think 2" pipes laid 3 feet deep and 20 feet apart, with 3" and 4" pipes where marked will be sufficient. The expense of this work, cleaning out ditches, making good fence at stream etc. will be £84.17.9 - James Baber, C.S. Quantity: 1 map(s).
