Description: Album of black & white photographs, chiefly of geological formations, with some group photographs of members attending the 7th Pacific Science Congress in 1949. Several images by R L Oliver show an eruption on Mount Ruapehu, probably in 1945, with views of the tholoid in the crater, later views showing vents appearing, and finally the engulfment of the larger part of the tholoid by enlargement of the major vent. Other images include one of Tuna Bay delta in the Marlborough Sounds, shell-beds, group photographs of members of the geological section attending the Pacific Science Congress in 1949, and photographs of White island, including one aerial photograph.

Description: Published by J. D. Wickham, [1879?], missing pages 93-94. Includes many annotations by Cowan, and loose papers including correspondence, clippings, drafts, and photographs. Also an image of Patara Te Tuhi, and a sketch map of the Waikato District tipped in to the back cover. Correspondence includes a letter from C. [Charles?] Garlick, of Taneatua, dated 31 January 1928; a letter from A. R. Weal, of Pukeatua, Te Awamutu, dated 20 February 1930, which contains information about Te Awamutu Troop, Waikato Cavalry, provided by his father T. Weal; and a letter by George Graham [signed also as Hori Kereama], of Auckland, dated 11 March 1942. Graham's letter includes discussion relating to the legal status of the Treaty of Waitangi, Māori participation in both World Wars, Kīngitanga, and Māori leadership.
