Description: Original survey plan showing topographical features divided into grids from Mangaroa and Manganui Creek eastwards to Mt. Heal and southwards to Ash Hill. Shows blocks 2-3, 6-7, 10-11, Mangahao Survey District. Includes roads, Maori tracks, Baker's tracks and contour lines. Features the Mangaone Stream with various named creeks, and the Coach Road near the Hawera trig point. Accompanying map is a log of the Mangahau Survey District, Blocks XIV-XII, sheet 2, (see MapColl-832.45bf/[ca. 1881]/Acc.28698). Map edges have been trimmed. Description: Album of black & white photographs, chiefly of geological formations, with some group photographs of members attending the 7th Pacific Science Congress in 1949. Several images by R L Oliver show an eruption on Mount Ruapehu, probably in 1945, with views of the tholoid in the crater, later views showing vents appearing, and finally the engulfment of the larger part of the tholoid by enlargement of the major vent. Other images include one of Tuna Bay delta in the Marlborough Sounds, shell-beds, group photographs of members of the geological section attending the Pacific Science Congress in 1949, and photographs of White island, including one aerial photograph.

Description: Topographic map of the Rimutaka Ranges, immediately north of Featherston southwards to Baring Head, Wellington Region. Names rivers, streams, creeks, roads, the Petone to Featherston railway line, mountains, trig points, foot tracks, ridges, cliffs, bluffs, Lake Oneke and Lake Wairarapa, Martinborough and Featherston. Has grid pattern marked in yards. Acc. 37209 has watercolour annotations (blue for water, green for bush and brown for roads). Acc. 12718 has text (pencil) annotations, (and no watercolour annotations), on top left and in the middle of the map (difficult to decipher). Description: Hand-drawn plan principally showing a survey of the Hooker Glacier. The map also shows part of the Mount Cook Range including Mt Wakefield, Mt Mabel and Mt Rosa, the Mona, Noeline, Empress and Sheila Glaciers and part of the Tasman Glacier. Gives topographic features and also indicates the track taken by Mr Sealy in 1867 and the position he reached as well as the position reached by J H Baker in 1889. Some vegetation marked. with Mona, Noeline, Empress and Sheila Glaciers shown. Given the source of the map it is assumed that Brodrick is the surveyor, the other possiblity being J H Baker. Brodrick was responsible from 1887-92 for surveying the pastoral runs in South Canterbury and in the course of this work mapped a large portion of the eastern side of the Southern Alps from the Rangitata to the Hunter Rivers and extensive observations of the behaviour of the glaciers in the region. Description: Topographic map of the area from Ruapehu to the junction of the Wanganui and Whakapapa rivers to Lake Taupo and the Tauranga - Taupo Road, then following the Waikato River to the Moawhango River. Includes Moawhango (Erewhon) and Karioi and part of the North trunk railway line. All rivers and streams are named. Includes Lake Taupo, Lake Rotoaira and the Rangipo Desert with sites of two camps, one having a water supply. Named settlements are referred to a reference key. Includes the mountain range of Ruapehu, Ngaruhoe and Tongariro and a second range which includes Pihanga, Kakaramea and Kaharua, all with heights in feet. Roads and tracks are marked, some with distances from Tokaanu, referred to in a reference key. Hot baths and Blake's Hotel are marked at Tokaanu. A note states that Te Heuheu is buried at Waihi, and at a point further north L.M. Grace's house is marked. Two sites of campsites are marked, one with water, near the ran The inscription of 'G.B.
