Blocks indicate name, number and acreage, and include Kaihinu, Pahiatua, Te Pukahu, Mongorongo, Eketāhuna, Ngatapu, Ihuraua, Manawatū, Mangahauo, Puketoi, Tautane, Makure. Two blocks include note 'not passed the [Native Land] Court' (Kaihanga, Mangahao no. 3; 7,000 acres and Puketoi no. 6; 3,200 acres). Description: Manawatu Catchment Board proposed flood control scheme for the lower Manawatu River, 1945. The plan outlines stage one of a five year plan of flood protection for the river from Whirokino to Ashurst. Shows flood protection river cuts, stopbanks, outfall drains, raised banks ponding areas, an alternative cut, as well as a 200 ft wide channel through Moutoa. Also shows a diagram above the map entitled 'Longitudinal profile along cut' that depicts the 1902 flood level, stopbank heights, low level bank heights, ground levels along the cut and the mean contruction level on the bottom of the cut. Description: Drawn on a base map of Owahanga Station, the annotations depict pā sites, (including terraced pā), middens (deposits of shells or animal bones indicating human settlement) and pits along the Mataikona River. Several comments are written on the map such as the bulldozing of sites, pit size, locality of farm buildings. Drawn by P.J.P. Base map: 'Owahanga Station' (ms map?, 1964). Surveyed by R G Lockie. This map names paddocks, buildings, and describes land use. Gives topographical information. Description: Shows area of land bounded by London, Ingestre streets and Victoria Avenue, Wanganui. Gives sections and section numbers (in most cases) in this area. Has an area marked as 'proposed new grounds for boy's college' with acreage. Next to this, is a block with a note: 'about 44 acres let on short grazing leases'. Another block has 'about 61 acreas let on grazing leases expiring 1909' written on it. One section near Victoria Avenue and Plymouth St is marked 'Mr Watson's house' and an adjacent section has 'garden' written on it. The Wanganui Aramoho railway is indicated. Description: A base map of Block V, Westmere S.D. has been used to detail the town section 103 to be developed by John T. Williams. The plan for the section includes a cottage, stable and two sheds. The orchard, garden, passage and yard are named, include measurements in feet and inches, and notes about a 'crooked delanidated picket fence' and 'buried in dense growth of trees and shrubs'. The adjacent section No. 102, includes the names W.J. Vowles and J.A.S. McDonald, owner and occupier, while section No. 104 has the names Mrs. M.V. Soulby, owner, and Williams, occupier. The section to the rear has the name Mrs. Ellen Cullinane, owner and occupier. A note written on bottom right of map gives information about survey posts, pegs and no excess claimed for this section. Description: The index map, Sheet N, of the scheme for the Lower Manawatu area begins at the mouth of the Manawatu River, reaching as far as Ashhurst and the Kiwitea Stream. The scheme for the Oroua River is also included from the junction near Rangiotu to the vicinity of Kiwitea Stream. Notes about stopbanks, boundaries, railways and classes of valuation are referred to in a key. An extensive valuation table, entitled Rate Yield of Zone Districts includes information about twelve disticts, their areas and capital value of classes. The eight sheets, numbered 1a to 8a, are enlargements of Sheet N showing rural properties adjacent to the rivers, which are divided into classes according to their valuation and referred to in a key. Each property is numbered and includes the owner's name and acreage. Notes on each sheet state that the maps were compiled from Valuation Rolls 3/12 to 3/24 and 1399, 1402, 1425, 1428, 1432, 1441-2, 1476, 1478. Includes named streets, State Highways 1, 12, 30 and 97 as well as the Main Trunk Railway Line and deviation near Longburn. Three amended maps on Sheet 9a are of parts of Sheets 1a. 2a. 5a. Manawatu Catchment Board Plan no. 1/80 has been crossed out on all maps and 514 inserted before copying Originals signed by P.G. Evans, Chief Engineer, 7/12/51, 16/12/52, 12/12/54.
