Description: The papers collected by Dorothy Strauch are in two parts. The first relates to the mission of Christoph Dierks at Waitotara and includes copies of letters he and other Lutheran missionaries wrote back to Missionsanstalt Hermannsburg in Germany. This correspondence is in German. The second part of the collection comprises printed material, mainly serials, gathered by Dorothy Strauch in her capacity as archivist for St Martin's Lutheran Church, Marton. Missionsanstalt Hermannsburg dispached Christoph Dierks, Hartwig Dierks, Heinrich Loose and Wilhelm Kowert to New Zealand to serve as missionaries.
