Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Roger James Cotton; land documents; history of family and property (including `Cotton family' from printed publication (p524)); photographs The original owner of the land in Waipori District (formerly Tuapeka County) was Thomas Dickson who was granted 15 acres by the Crown in 1872. He died in 1873 and the land passed to his widow Margaret (nee Atkinson) who remarried Robert Cotton in 1875. The land was transferred to Robert Cotton in 1891. At the time of the New Zealand Century Farm and Station award in 2005 the farm was owned jointly by brothers Roger James and Stuart William Cotton (great-grandsons of Robert Cotton). Description: Contains three parchment land deeds relating to the Williams family [CMS] of Bay of Islands. ET/LT:005 is a land purchase document of Henry Williams purchasing land in Hokianga on 23 July 1856. Includes pencil annotations on the outside of the document including `Taratara' which may refer to Taratara Peak (also known as St Paul's). Also includes the Governor's offical seal. ET/LT: 006 is dated 24 April 1860 and includes Henry Williams Jun. Esq. to John William Williams Esq. Includes a hand drawn coloured map on the inner page. The following places are named on the map: Okorari Creek, Taratara and Pukeawa. It is also dated and stamped on the outside by the `Registrar Auckland' Wed 9 May 1860. ET/LT: 007 includes Henry Williams Jun Esq. to Venerable Octavius Hadfield and wife. It is dated 24 April 1860. It contains a hand drawn coloured map, showing the following places: Okorari Creek, Taratara and Pukeawa. In 2008 the farm was owned by John's son Ian McMillan and wife Lois (nee Wilcox), the farming being undertaken by Ian's cousins Ross McMillan and son Barrie.
