Description: Contains three parchment land deeds relating to the Williams family [CMS] of Bay of Islands. ET/LT:005 is a land purchase document of Henry Williams purchasing land in Hokianga on 23 July 1856. Includes pencil annotations on the outside of the document including `Taratara' which may refer to Taratara Peak (also known as St Paul's). Also includes the Governor's offical seal. ET/LT: 006 is dated 24 April 1860 and includes Henry Williams Jun. Esq. to John William Williams Esq. Includes a hand drawn coloured map on the inner page. The following places are named on the map: Okorari Creek, Taratara and Pukeawa. It is also dated and stamped on the outside by the `Registrar Auckland' Wed 9 May 1860. ET/LT: 007 includes Henry Williams Jun Esq. to Venerable Octavius Hadfield and wife. It is dated 24 April 1860. It contains a hand drawn coloured map, showing the following places: Okorari Creek, Taratara and Pukeawa. Description: `When can you start?', an autobiography of Fry's life up until the 1960s describing his childhood, education, war service and employment as a journalist for the Southern Cross newspaper and the New Zealand Listener and editorial work for A H & A W Reed. Chapter 1 begins with Fry arriving in Wellington from Christchurch in 1948 and he describes his experiences working as a journalist for the Southern Cross newspaper and gives his impressions of Wellington, including being a student at Victoria University College in the late 1940s and early 1950s. He then reverts back to his childhood, describing growing up in Wallsend and Christchurch, attending Papanui Technical College and being apprenticed as an electrician. Chapter 10 ends in 1944 when Fry enrolled in the Royal Navy 21st Fleet Airm draft to be trained in England. Names referred to in the text are entered in the name index. Quantity: 1 folder(s). Description: O'Halloran arrived in Australia in 1860 from Ireland and held a variety of jobs in Melbourne and Victoria before coming to New Zealand in 1861. He worked at gold mining in Otago, hotel and store-keeping, driving and contracting in the Thames, Auckland, and central North Island. He spent nine years with the Mounted Militia, 1865-1874, in Taranaki, central North Island and East Coast and saw frequent action. O'Halloran returned in Australia in 1884.
