Description: V Class steam locomotive, WMR 6, taken ca 1905 by Albert Percy Godber, at Paekakariki. An original print of this negative is at PA1-q-101 (Godber album vol 108, page 52), with the caption "No 450" below the print, and the caption "1885. Written off 1923." written below the print. This image is reproduced in "Cavalcade of New Zealand locomotives" by A N Palmer & W W Stewart (p 89). The Wellington and Manawatu Railway Co. locomotive no 6 was a "V" class engine (2-6-2 type) was built by Nasmyth, Wilson & Co., Manchester (maker's no 282/85) in 1885. In 1908, when the Manawatu Railway was acquired by the Government, this locomotive was renumbered NZR "V" 450.
