Description: Photograph album created by Neville H Mosen of Raetithi. Contains views related to trips taken by the Tongariro Tramping Club and views related to the Mosen family and friends. Taken by Neville Mosen circa 1936 to 1937, and possibly some taken by other unidentified photographer(s). Contains scenic views and views of the Club members on bush walks and skiing in Tongariro National Park, featuring Ruapehu, Tongariro, Ngauruhoe and surrounding environs, the Pinnacles at Blue Bluffs, Ruapehu crater lake, Tama Lakes, The Chateau, Whakapapa glacier, Karioi Lakes, Mangawhero River and various tramping huts. Bruce Davis, an amateur photographer who lived in Raetihi is identified. Also includes views of Raetihi township and Horopito locality, Napier, Tauranga (rail bridge and The Strand), and Ngauruhoe erupting (possibly 1937 eruption). Also includes views of Tom Parker posing with the fountain he gifted to Napier in 1936 and scenes of a parade and bonfire in Raetihi to mark the coronation of King George VI in 1937. Also includes the wedding of Gwen Wise (circa 1930s) 5 loose prints have page numbers noted and are in an envelope at the front of the album. Description: Loose photographs extracted from album (PA1-o-1549). Includes photographs of a hill climbing sports car event, sports car club meeting, Wellington beaches, Wellington suburbs and housing developments, and the construction of a house. Mr Hird was an electrical designer, involved in the development of television, designing radios for Sir Edmund Hillary in Antarctica, and was apparently in radio surveillance in WW2. His father taught at Seatoun school. Mr Hird lived most of his life in the house at Mantell Street. See 'Freedom' newspaper, 25 Nov 1953, p.6 re his involvement in developing television. Description: Album of photographs probably taken by George W Barltrop (who was at one time president of the Nelson Camera Club), between 1899 and 1902. Scenes include group portraits of Labour Day celebrations by the Missions to Seamen in 1900 and 1901; Prince of Wales birthday celebrations in 1901; members of a camera club (possibly in the Hutt Valley, associated with a Mr Stevens); and views of Island Bay and French Pass, with close-up views of the anchor and a sailor standing at the steering wheel on a fishing boat. In the South Island there are views of the Blenheim Road, Havelock Road, Wakapuaka Road, Cable Bay, and Bishops Peninsula (?). Two images show Indian troops who came to New Zealand as part of the tour by the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York in 1901.
