Description: Watercolour shows the south Wairarapa coast, possibly near Te Kopi looking west from near Cape Palliser, with dwellings and probably a whaling station (Wades Whaling Station? as mentioned in the Wellington Spectator of 1844 - quoted in Mita Carter's "Early Palliser Bay" (1982)) in the centre. Several men stand on the steep hillside at the right. The foreground terrain is covered with low scrub. Entitled "Whaling station, Palliser Bay, Wairarapa" in McArthur's August 1987 auction catalogue. Dated from other views of the same area. Other Titles - Whaling station, Palliser Bay, Wairarapa Similar to watercolour at B-031-025. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
