Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Robyn Vicki Lawrence on behalf of her brother Murray Tapper; History of the Tappers of Okauia compiled by Vicki Lawrence, 2009; Early history of Okauia, compiled by Mrs H Baxindine Snr, Mrs Annie Marsh, George Harrison, jack jones, Arthur Garland, Mar 1982 Original owner was Caleb Robinson Tapper who leased the land in 1908. It was acquired by Jack Victor Tapper in 1919. In 2008 it was owned by his grandson Murray Wayne Tapper and wife Gillian. In June 2008 the Tapper farm was sold to Murray & Nikki Hawkings ending over 100 years of continuous ownership by one family. Richard Hicks - Hicks farm (Maungatautari)

Description: The papers consist of: Application form submitted by Richard Hicks; history of the farm and Hicks family; photographs of family and farm Original owner was John Thomas Hicks who took up land at Maungatautari (288 Luck at Last Road) in 1899. It passed to one of his sons, Joseph Hart Hicks and then to Joseph's son, Richard. In 2007 the property was awarded the New Zealand Century Farm and Station award to mark over 100 years of continuous ownership by one family. Quantity: 1 folder(s). Luce, John Proctor, 1827-1869 : Private journals

Description: The microfilm comprises six journals (1852-1867), copy of typescript letter (1840) and `Pilgrimage to Jerusalem' by Luce (7-13 Oct 1841) The journals are described as private journals; vols 1-4 covering 1852 to 1863 and Luce's service including Portsmouth, Karatch Bay, Malta, Cape Coast, Sierra Leone and Dahomey Luce writes of his service in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific in volumes 5 and 6. Volume 5 (1864-1866) includes an index of contents, notes and clippings and detailed descriptions of the `Esk' being at Auckland, going to Tauranga, the East Coast and Poverty Bay, Wellington, New Hebrides, Fiji and Sydney, with descriptions of cattle trade, a journey to Wanganui. Also includes lists of letters written and sent, and received, readable books in the ship's library and of `Officers and dates of dining with me'. Volume 6 (1866-1867), which is described as a very rough notebook, includes a photograph of Luce (1865) and clippings and covers the `Esk' being in Auckland, Thames, Norfolk Island, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Fiji, Tonga and the Friendly Islands. Includes description of a trip round and up the Waikato River and a cruise from Thames to Wellington. Source of title - Supplied Luce served with the Royal Navy from 1840; these journals cover the period 1852 to 1867 and include time served on the `Esk' in New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific Quantity: 1 microfilm reel(s). 0.02 Linear Metres. Description: The bulk of the papers are concerned with Daniell's business activities as an architect in Hamilton and Masterton. They contain correspondence, accounts and specifications relating to his architectural work. Daniell's diaries provide information on his activities during this period. The private papers relate to family and community affairs. They contain personal correspondence and documents together with material dealing with Daniell's involvement in the Methodist Church, no-licence and other community activities. Source of title - Supplied Arrangement: The arrangement of the papers reflect the order in which they were received by the Library. There are a considerable number of general correspondence files which have overlapping dates. The letters within each file are arranged alphabetically. The reason why an item was filed under a particular letter of the alphabet is not always apparent and it can not be assumed that a letter will be found exactly where one might expect it to be.
