Description: Mounted photographs by the Burton Brothers of the junction of Eden and Tees Streets, Oamaru showing St Luke's Church, shops, tram lines and part of the Council Chambers; looking down on the wharves of Port Chalmers with the Presbyterian Church in the right foreground; and the Kakahi Falls, near Tawhata on the Whanganui River. Two smaller mounted photographs of a river in the Catlins District. Three pages from a photograph album holding five photographs of the building of the Arapuni Dam on the Waikato River including the buried forest exposed by the Waikato River diversion. Three loose prints by J W France of an early settlers' cottage made of ponga with a turf roof and with the family outside; a group of six workmen standing on the road they were building with long handled shovels and a boy and a dog in front of them; and the funeral procession of Sir John MacKenzie in 1901 led by a pipe band up the main road in Oamaru working. Description: A collection of postcards and printed views (possibly from a magazine) of New Zealand scenes primarily of towns and cities rather than scenic views. They include one of two Maori women washing clothes at Rotorua, another of the Royal visit in 1927 and a family group of seven men and three women possibly taken in Belfast. A number of the postcards have been used. Also included are five original photographs which have been captioned with the family connections: a soldier in uniform, possibly named Ralph Ferguson; Uncle Henry Babe's wedding photograph; cousin Violet Bradford in America; Albert and Elizabeth (Eliza) Babe (brother and sister) and four others; Thomas and Fanny Babe (grandpa and grandma) with Eliza, Harold, Albert, Olivia, Queenie and Gladys. Description: Photographs of a military parade on Lambton Quay as part of the visit by the Duke and Duchess of Cornwall and York consisting of teams of eight horses pulling small carriages on their way to the Battery with spectators lining the street; No.3 Gun Detachment at a military tournament in November 1891 at Hutt Race Course standing with their gun the participants being Sgt Carter, Br Daniels, Gunners Brown, Petrie, Curtis, Bott, Renwick, Raynor, and Quilice(?); No.1 (Gun Detachment?) with their gun, standing next to a tent in Miramar in 1898 the participants being Gibson, Coombes, Coleman, Pettiecuck(?), Lyon, Boyes, Fraser, Feeney, Hill, Brown, Spence, Courtney, and Truman; and a large group of men possibly of D battery of Wellington militia holding poles with paddles at the end with circles painted on them (markers). The premises depicted may be his Drawn on the back of a folio-sized printed sheet of paper for the Standard Property Investment Society, Howorth and Hodgkins, Solicitors, Dunedin.
