Description: View from behind Mr Hamilton Ward's house on Quail Island, looking towards Lyttelton and Mt Pleasant and out to Godley Head and the open sea. Mr Ward's cottage is fenced and has a chimney, and windows on either side of a central door. Description: Shows a farm scene, probably in Otago. To the left, three workhorses walk side by side; in the distance to the left, the house and farm buildings can be seen, with a woman and two children crossing the field. To the right is a bull, a cow and a calf; and beyond them three kennels, each with a dog outside.
