Description: An extensive view over Newmarket and Parnell, with a large tree in the left foreground, houses, streets, churches, the harbour and Rangitoto. The left-hand spired building is St. Mary's Church, built 1860, that on the right is Bishopscourt, St. Stephens Ave., Parnell. A number of wooden houses can be seen, with a tall three-storeyed building nearer the water's edge, beside which is the house that James Stuart Freeman resided in.
