Description: Album of photographs in the Godber collection, taken by unidentified photographers. None of the people in photographs are identified. Photographs include scenes in the Nelson area, and particularly New Plymouth, with a number of the Domain at New Plymouth. Two photographs are linked with the Star Boating Club in Wellington, one with a rowing group in a whaler, and one showing a number of rowing prizes won by Jack Hume. Description: Notice announcing a reward for information leading to the apprehension and conviction of the person or people who "besides stealing therefrom several articles, have wickedly and maliciously done a very large amount of damage in destroying Glass, Books, Writings, Natural History Specimens, Medicines, &c., &c." Ten pounds would be awarded on receipt of the information, and a further twenty pounds paid when the culprit was convicted. Description: A Gillespie won prizes for begonias, fine foliage plants, primulas, table bouquets, and cut flowers. The 1875 cards are lithographed by W C Wilson, Auckland, and the 1880 card is lithographed by Herald litho. Note from a descendant, Jean Erbacher (28 October 2008), indicates that A Gillespie is likely to have been Mr Alexander Gillespie, the head gardener at Government House in Auckland at that time.
