Description: View from the lower end of The Terrace, looking down into the Aro Valley and Te Aro Flat and across towards Mount Victoria, Oriental Bay and the Miramar Peninsula. Part of the Thorndon end of the city can be seen on the left. Courtenay Place runs away from the viewer in the centre of the scene, with Marjoribanks Street moving up Mount Victoria. The gasometers on both sides of Courtenay Place show clearly. On the far right is Wellington College Issued with descriptive text sheet. Description: Two photographs of a Maori picnic at Pigeon Bush on the occasion of the settlement of the ownership of Lake Wairarapa. The first shows a large crowd of men, women and children with Seddon on the right in front of a two-storey wooden house. The second is of the crowd under the trees, one with a concertina, and three men holding up eels they had caught. A photograph of Members of Parliament in the debating chamber. The names given are: Symes, O'Maara, A L D Fraser, J Palmer, Hall, Field, Witheford, Wi Pere, Bennet, Kaihu, Duncan, MIlls, Ward, Cairncross, Stevens, Hogg, F M Smith, Carroll, McGowan and Hall-Jones. A photograph of the opening by Seddon of the Ballance Bridge described as "over Mangahau". It was taken by P De Loree & Son a photographer based in Pahiatua which may indicate the approximate location. The crowd in the foreground is mostly of children and the bridge has been decorated with plants. A photograph of Seddon, Mrs Hogg and Alexander Wilson Hogg opening a bridge. It is captioned at the bottom left "Mangainoka 4.3.1896" but this location has not been identified and the name on the reverse is illegible. Two photographs by Winzenberg of Seddon and others at a Liberal rally near Greytown and at a picnic possibly on the same occasion. Description: View north across the harbour from Thorndon, just to the left of Pipitea Pa, with the palisades of the pa on the right, a ravine and three Maori to the left of the ravine. Kaiwharawhara with the hotel is visible on the extreme left, with the Western hills leading to the Tararuas, and the Hutt Valley in the distance. The view may possibly be further along Thorndon Beach from the Pa. There was a ravine where the motorway now runs, crossed by the Hobson Street Bridge in later years, and this may be the area shown, in central Thorndon. Quantity: 1 drawing(s). Description: Shows views in the Wellington area. The top view looks along Petone beach to the south-east, with Petone Pa and the 'Native Chapel' (the large building on the left). The central view, taken from Tinakori Road's junction with Hawkestone Street, looks towards Kelburn. There is a bullock cart in the foreground, and three Maori carrying large bundles. The nearest house, on the lower slopes of Tinakore Hill, is that of Nathaniel Levin, with the house of Mr Holroyd above it, and Mr Dorset's house further in the distance at the foot of the trees that cover the hill. The lowest view at Ohiro Bay (or valley) shows a flock of sheep attended by a shepherd and a large-single storied house nestled against trees, the home of Judge Halswell.
