Description: The first postcard issued by the New Zealand Post Office, December 1897. It shows four vignettes of scenic landmarks: Mt Cook, Mt Taranaki, the Otira Gorge and the Waikite Geyser at Whakarewarewa. This copy is postmarked 28 December 1897 on the verso, and has been sent via Suez to London before being forwarded to Horsham, Sussex. Quantity: 1 colour art print(s). Physical Description: Chromolithograph on card 92 x 141 mm. Provenance: Previously purchased in an antique bookshop in Melbourne.
