Description: MP Jim Anderton who is standing for Mayor of Christchurch in the coming local body elections (9th October) stands up to his chest in a crack in the road waving a sign that reads 'Jim Anderton for mayor' and yelling "I'm still here!' Refers to the very high profile that his rival the standing mayor Bob Parker has enjoyed in the aftermath of the Christchurch earthquake of 4th September 2010. Jim Anderton has rather faded out of the limelight by comparison. Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).

From: Evans, Malcolm Paul, 1945- :Digital cartoons
Reference: DCDL-0015720
Description: In a series of five out of six caricatures Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker shows photographs of himself helping people hurt by the 4th September earthquake and helping Christchurch after the earthquake. In the sixth caricature he disingenuously smirks and says that he has been so busy helping Christchurch that he forgot about the Mayoral election; he then affects a philosophical stance about his chances. Refers to the advantage that the earthquake of 4th September has given the incumbent mayor Bob Parker in the local body elections of 9th October. [Mayorest offer] 10 September 2010
Date: 2010
From: Winter, Mark, 1958- : Digital cartoons published in the Southland Times and other papers
Reference: DCDL-0015554
Description: An arm wearing the ermine-edged gown of a mayor holds a child's fishing rod to which is attached a small object Text reads 'The Mayorest offer. and lead us not into TIMtation'. A second version has nothing on the end of the string. A third version has the words reading 'but lead us not Into TIMtation' and the fourth version lacks the words 'The Mayorest offer'. This probably refers to mayoral candidate Suzanne Prentice's keeping of a recorded message that Tim Shadbolt left on her phone, offering her the Invercargill deputy mayoralty if she didn't stand against him. The leaking of the message to the press was not made by Ms Prentice nor did she sanction it. There are wordplays on 'mayorest' (mayor) and 'mearest' and 'TIMtation' (Tim Shadbolt) and 'temptation'. Quantity: 4 digital cartoon(s).

Date: 2010
From: Clark, Laurence, 1949- :Digital cartoons
Reference: DCDL-0015558
Description: Shows a couple in their car driving along a road festooned with election billboards. The man reads a billboard and comments that the mayor is promising to 'move our district forward' and his partner suggests that with all the new jobs down in Christchurch maybe he should move the district down there. Probably refers to mayoral hopefuls in Whangarei, Pamela Sue Peters or Stan Semenoff, suggesting that people should move to Christchurch for jobs which, since the 4th September 2010 earthquake, are going to be plentiful. But it seems that every mayoral candidate in the country is intent on moving his or her part of New Zealand forward if they win the October 9 local body election. Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).

Despite strong opposition to the sale of state-owned assets, the government is moving forward with the scheme. Quantity: 1 digital cartoon(s).
