Source of descriptive information - Negative register and inscriptions on negative. The third Christ Church Cathedral building in Nelson was a gothic revival design by British born architect, Frank Peck, to be built in Takaka marble. Its foundation stone was laid in 1925, but construction stopped in 1932 and the incomplete nave and west front were roofed over, the nave being given a temporary ceiling, seen here. In 1954, Wellington based architect, Ron Muston provided the simplified design that was completed in 1967, and which incorporated the finished parts of Frank Pecks design.
