Description: Photographs of lakes, mountains and valleys in the Lake Manapouri, Doubtful Sound areas. Various photographers have been identified, some with only their surname. They include C S Ross, Alec Tuff (images 109-111), Miss Theomin [Dorothy Michaelis Theomin] (images 90, 97 and 111), Miss Wimperis (a folder entitled "Miss Wimperis" containing images numbered 86-101), J Murrell (a folder containing images numbered 102-107), J Ewart (image no. 93), D.W.(image no. 112), and probably W A K Kennedy. Several images show individuals (only one of whom has been identified (W. Grave)), and unidentified groups. A number of views show launches and their passengers on Lake Manapouri and in Doubtful Sound. Between images numbered 107 and 108 are three empty folders entitled "Waiau River"; "On the track from Lake Manapouri to the Sd.; "On the Sound (Doubtful Sd) and its arms, Smith, Hall, Crooked, Deep Cove". Most of the places shown are listed above. Quantity: 109 b&w original photographic print(s). Physical Description: Silver gelatin prints. Lake Manapouri

Description: Photographs of Lake Manapouri and Doubtful Sound, including many of the Spey Valley and the Doubtful Sound Track between the lake and the sound. Views of Lake Manapouri are taken from the shore, and also from various islands including Pomona Island, Belle Vue Island, Rona Island and Holmwood Island. Photographers not identified, but possibly taken by William Alexander Kennedy. A group of unidentified men and women are seen in a number of photographs, including on the track, camping and travelling in the government owned launch "Manurere". One showing a campsite shows six men and women of whom only one has a bare head. All the others have nets covering them to protect them from the sandflies which are prolific in the area. There is also a lot of smoke from a fire near the tents (photograph no. 35). Image no. 74 shows an unidentified man wearing a suit and hat, walking away from the launch Manurere beside which is a pile of camping equipment. He is carrying a pack and a billy.
