A pencil portrait of a man with a hat and large moustache is inset The man with the hat seems likely to be Joseph James Moore, a carrier / carter, who lived between Sutherland Road and Queen's Drive, Lyall Bay from 1905 to ca 1921. He owned a stables with 12-15 hourse and also had tearooms on Lyall Parade. The cart in the view may also be his. Photographs of the period owned by descendants show him with a large moustache.
