Photographs in the North Island include tours between Stratford and Ongarue; Ngaruawahia celebrations in 1938 (including views of King Koroki's house which was built in 1938); Rotorua and six lakes trip; and opening ceremonies for the Hutt Railway. In the South Island views include Caroline Bay with events at the soundshell; in Timaru, views of a two-storied clubhouse and men playing bowls, a person practising croquet, and several games of tennis on a series of tennis courts; areas in Queen Charlotte Sound, Portage, Pelorus and Kenepuru Sounds and Blenheim Aerodrome; Tasman and Franz Josef Glaciers; Milford Sound; Punakaiki; and Cromwell. Description: Photographs taken during the royal tour of New Zealand made by the Prince of Wales in 1920. Many of the images are of military inspections and displays by school children. There are also displays of Maori dancing and singing, the sailors of the HMS Renown, on which the prince had travelled , prior to their soccer match in Dunedin, the prince addressing the crowds etc. A number of the images are in two-part panoramas. Also included are four scenic photographs by the New Zealand Tourist Department which may have been taken in 1903. The photographer for the tour photographs was Guy. Description: Photographs of large groups of people taken on tours run by New Zealand Railways, using rail and road transport. The album covers various trips taken by large groups of unidentified people, mostly in the North Island, and only as far south as Tokaanu and the Whanganui River. They travelled by rail, by road and by ferry. Very few of the photographs have captions, but several are labelled "Commerce trip", and include images of farming, ploughing, stock sales yards, and a large group of men picnicking around a hangi (p. 14). Description: Comprises views of vans, trucks, and cars taken mainly in Wellington, but also Upper Hutt, Petone, the Waikato, and Whanganui by Dylan Owen between November 2011 and August 2013. The images include vehicles decorated in protest for Aotearoa is Not for Sale, and against exclusion of Maori from the All Blacks during the 2011 World Cup, as well as business vehicles and decorated camper vans. Description: Album of photographs chiefly taken by Albert Percy Godber, relating to his family, his work and his interests. Family photographs include portraits of his wife (Laura) and two children (William and Phyllis), and scenes of their home in Whiteman's Valley Road, Silverstream; views of the Hutt Valley including large numbers of cars travelling to Trentham Racecourse, and the Hutt River. Another group of images relate to a holiday at the Mendip Hills Homestead in Canterbury, with scenes of farm life, including haymaking, merino sheep, and farm buildings. During their stay in the South Island Godber also took photographs of Dunedin (including the Ross Reservoir, Otago Boys' High School, Seacliff Mental Hospital, the 1926 Dunedin Exhibition, and the Hillside Railway Workshops); Invercargill (including the Invercargill Railway Workshops); Stewart Island, Moeraki, Tuatapere, Waiau River, Oamaru and Port Chalmers. Various railway stations in Canterbury and Otago, the Burnside Iron Mills, and the Rosslyn Mills. Godber was a volunteer fireman with the Petone Fire Brigade with the album including views of the building, groups of firemen, fire engines and other fire fighting equipment, and a building in Petone damaged by fire. In his work with New Zealand Railways, mainly at the Petone Railway Workshops, he took interior photographs of various buildings, including the Machine Shop and finishing benches, the engine room, lathes, boilers, and fitting shops. He also took photographs of many of the steam engines that were built and worked on at the workshops. One scene shows a group of men watching a fight. Many images show his interest in logging railways, particularly in the Piha, Karekare, Anawhata area. Scenes of logging camps, various methods of transporting logs including bullock teams, logging trains, and dams created and then tripped to send logs down by river, and timber mills. Other topics covered in Godber's photographs are scenes at Maori marae and meeting houses, with some of the people identified; Maori carving and rafter designs; beekeeping, and gold mining. Description: Album of photographs relating to historian David M Luke, including family and friends, and various trips around New Zealand. Names listed above are of people identified in the album. A number of sequences show a Yorkshire (?) terrier named Buff. David Luke lived at 84 Bolton Street for many years, and a number of photographs are taken inside the house and in the garden.
