Description: A collection of postcards and printed views (possibly from a magazine) of New Zealand scenes primarily of towns and cities rather than scenic views. They include one of two Maori women washing clothes at Rotorua, another of the Royal visit in 1927 and a family group of seven men and three women possibly taken in Belfast. A number of the postcards have been used. Also included are five original photographs which have been captioned with the family connections: a soldier in uniform, possibly named Ralph Ferguson; Uncle Henry Babe's wedding photograph; cousin Violet Bradford in America; Albert and Elizabeth (Eliza) Babe (brother and sister) and four others; Thomas and Fanny Babe (grandpa and grandma) with Eliza, Harold, Albert, Olivia, Queenie and Gladys. Description: Album of pressed ferns, most of which are used to frame images of New Zealand, but some pages consist solely of pressed ferns. The photographs show New Zealand scenes, and include two postcards of collages. One has the legend "Maoridom" and at the base "The old order changeth" with a photograph of Maori king Tawhiao, and various artifacts including taiaha, cloaks, and two preserved heads of Maori. The other shows portraits of a number of Maori men and women, and views of Parihaka and Ohinemutu. Among the views of new Zealand scenery are images of the White Terraces in eruption, the Pink Terraces, Manawatu Gorge, Dunedin, Queen Street (Auckland), Lake Ada, and Tois Tois [sic] Island on the Clinton River, Lake Te Anau. Description: Photograph album documenting a trip to New Zealand in circa 1928 made by Mrs Elsie Florence Mayne (nee Cannan) of Australia and her husband Allan Mayne. Comprises photographs likely to have been taken by Mrs or Mr Mayne, also postcards, and tourist photographs. Album probably compiled by Mrs Mayne. Images comprise scenes taken around New Zealand. North Island locations include Auckland, Rotorua and Taupo districts, the Wanganui River, and Wellington. South Island locations include Blenheim, Nelson, Christchurch city, and the West Coast region, including Franz Josef Glacier. Description: Transparency slides of New Zealand selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England. This sheet shows aspects of Holmridge farm at Waihue, including a view of cows in the milking shed; cows in a field; a stream and Tutamoe peak in the distance; sheep being rounded up and penned preparatory to being shorn, Clive Woods shearing a sheep; an aerial topdressing plane in the air; a family group on the tray of a truck; family group of Clive, Barbara and young Vern; one of "Grandpa" Vernon Woods with his grandson "young Vern"; sheep station near Dargaville. Various scenes away from the farm show Queen Street, Auckland; Auckland Harbour with Rangitoto in the distance; main street in Te Awamutu; Mount Pirongia; a bridge over the Waikato River at Hamilton; the Grand Hotel at Rotorua; a steam vent in Park Square, Rotorua; the gardens at the Government Sanatorium, and a game of bowls in progress; and steam vents and the Wahiao meeting house at Whakarewarewa. Arrangement: These slides were selected by Mr Williams from his original sequence to create a representative collection of New Zealand images which he used in illustrated lectures on his return to England. West Indies and New Zealand album

Description: Album of images taken by various photographers, some of whom are identified, probably between 1870 and 1899. Views of New Zealand (tourist scenes of the South Island include the West Coast, Queenstown-Lakes District; and of the North Island include thermal areas around Lake Rotomahana, Ohinemutu, and Wairakei). These are interspersed with scenes in the West Indies, India, and Australia. Names of places shown in the album are listed above. Pages 29-30 show images of "SS Tarawera" in Wet Jacket Arm. Pages 30-32 show views of one or possibly two ships. The names in pencilled captions are not clear. The ship on page 30 appears to have the name RMSS Rune [or Rane, or Rome], but on page 32 that name is crossed out and appears to be RMSS Shamun? However the name on page 31 appears more like RMSS Shannon, and photographs of the Shannon appear very like the full image in this album on page 30, in which the ship is sailing through "the canal".
