It may be this work Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - signature and date in brushpoint Dunedin solicitor Henry Howorth, was William Mathew Hodgkins' partner in Dunedin. He may have been related to Charles Henry Howorth, although he was not his father. Charles Henry Howorth was the son of another Dunedin lawyer, George Howorth. The painting may have come into W. M. Presumably refers to Chief Karetai's sales of land to Europeans in the mid-nineteenth century Pipikaretu Point is on the north-eastern side of Otago Peninsula, across from Otakou.
