Description: Photographs of the West Coast of the South Island, Otago and Southland, made for publication in the New Zealand Free Lance, 1927 to 1950. Includes a painting of the `Philip Laing' and `John Wickliffe' in Port Chalmers in 1848, painted by D O Robertson in 1898 and photographed by De Maus. Also includes a photograph of Gabriels Gully, Lawrence, in 1862, and later photographs of memorials to Gabriel Read.
