There is flowering broom or gorse in the foreground, the houses of Kelburn in the middle distance, the harbour beyond, Somes Island, and the distant area of Lower Hutt. The smoke of a small fire rises from the Thorndon area. Inscriptions: Backing board recto - top centre - [Title]; Backing board recto - top right - Left to L M Lysaght by F Pharazyn 1926.
