Description: A license signed by warden Duncan Macfarlane of the Westland mining district, granting Thomas Kelly of Awatuna Mine permission to use a water-race for 42 years. The water-race was one "commencing about one mile down the Waimea Creek from Pipers bridge and terminating at Licensee's claim on Auckland Beach, length about 3 1/2 miles. Ten heads of water authorised and to be diverted from point of commencement for mining purposes". The license was granted in exchange for one previously held (No 233 B9/255, dated 22.1.[18]68). Typescript addition dated 1922 assigns interest from John Thomas Kelly, Michael Edward Kelly, Lawrence Denis Kelly and Joseph Richard Kelly to the Awatuna Dredging Company Ltd.
