Description: Aerial photograph, produced by NZ Aerial Mapping Ltd., Ref. No. A/S 2218, Flown 27.3.69, of L.W. Tonkin's farm in the Matakohe area, NE of Kaipara Harbour, used as a base map to which the farm and paddock boundaries have been outlined in red and detailed in a key. Hand-written notes in the margin give details of neighbouring houses with name references. Features include a trig point with height in feet, cabbage trees (location of), height in feet (of a hill), silo, to Matakohe, Ruatuna. A.P.B.W. believed to be the cartographer. Hand-written notes included in the margins are as follows: "Mainly hill country (sold 1947 to Crown for rehab) leading to 'The Swamp' on Ruawai Flats." "Matakohe Beet Farms, Ltd. (1971) fromerly the property of D.R. Shells include turret shell, morning star, lined whelk, violet snail, frilled Venus, limpet, paua, pale tiger, swollen triton, Queen scallop, depressed volute, large dog cockle, Hedleys volute, paper nautilus, rock borer, spotted helmet, cask shell, violet shell, fan scallop, golden helmet, toheroa, large tiger shell, pagoda shell, bubble shell, rock oyster, cat's eye periwinkle, trumpet shell, pale sunset shell, sea biscuit, southern ostrich foot, circular saw, starfish, sea urchin or egg, radiate limpet, radiate limpet, large fan scallop, siphon whelk, golden olive, octagonal murex, spiny murex, olive shell, edible mussel, prickly sea urchin /egg, Arabic volute, black edged limpet. Donor reports that the poster may date from the late 1960s. His father owned the Havelock North Fish Supply at that time, and sold it in 1971. Two copies held. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - UAS or JAS Quantity: 1 colour photo-mechanical print(s). Physical Description: Offset print, Provenance: Donated by Steve Cantwell, Wellington, in 2016. Havelock North Fish Supply was owned by the donor's father who sold it in 1971.
