Description: Photographs of Kamo (Whangarei), Rodney County and Coromandel, taken, probably in the 1900s, by Daniel P Parker of Coromandel. Includes views of the construction on a timber dam (probably in Coromandel), Coromandel Public Hospital, Kennedy Bay (Coromandel), a stream crossing between Opitonui and Coromandel, bush camps in the Coromadel district and a traffic bridge in Rodney County. Daniel P Parker is recorded in the Wise's Post Office directories as an engineer in Coromandel from 1902 to 1930. Between 1906 and 1911 he is also recorded as a photographer. Description: Album of tourist views of New Zealand and the sub-Antarctic Islands, chiefly taken by John Richard Morris, Jnr, circa 1890s. Places and subjects listed above where identified. The Sub-Antarctic Island views are all of native flora and fauna of the different islands, listed on the images as mollymawks, albatrosses, sea lions, crested penguins and erect-crested penguins On page 32 there is a view of the SS Knight Templar leaving Lyttelton on February 17, 1900, taking about 260 soldiers and 300 horses of the 3rd Contingent "the New Zealand Roughriders" to Durban, en route to fight in the South African War. The wharf is crowded with people seeing the ship off, soldiers lined up alongside the ship, and bunting flying on two ships nearby. Quantity: 1 album(s) Album(s). Description: Postcards, chiefly of Australia, including Tasmania, Adelaide, Queensland, New South Wales, with several showing various tin mines in Tasmania. There is a section of New Zealand postcards in the middle of the album, many taken by an Australian photographic company "Charles H Kerry & Co", labelled "Series 53. Hot Lakes District, New Zealand". These images are tinted, and include views of the Huka Falls, the Pink and White Terraces, Waiotapu, Ohinemutu, Whakarewarewa, Lakes Waikaremoana and Taupo, and the Aratiatia Rapids. The NZ images also include views of the Mount Cook region of the South Island, including Franz Josef Glacier, Hooker Glacier, Mounts Darwin, Sefton and Cook, and Lakes Te Anau and Wakatipu. Description: Mounted photographs by the Burton Brothers of the junction of Eden and Tees Streets, Oamaru showing St Luke's Church, shops, tram lines and part of the Council Chambers; looking down on the wharves of Port Chalmers with the Presbyterian Church in the right foreground; and the Kakahi Falls, near Tawhata on the Whanganui River. Two smaller mounted photographs of a river in the Catlins District. Three pages from a photograph album holding five photographs of the building of the Arapuni Dam on the Waikato River including the buried forest exposed by the Waikato River diversion. Three loose prints by J W France of an early settlers' cottage made of ponga with a turf roof and with the family outside; a group of six workmen standing on the road they were building with long handled shovels and a boy and a dog in front of them; and the funeral procession of Sir John MacKenzie in 1901 led by a pipe band up the main road in Oamaru working.
