Description: Auckland Harbour with Rangitoto in the background. A rocky beach in the foreground, with a Maori figure climbing into a small canoe. Several yachts and small ships in the harbour and a wharf to the right The reference to Percy Mathews in the inscription on the verso is unclear. It is possible that the painting is the work of a Percy Mathews, but no artist by this name is known, the work came from Gold's sketchbook and the style appears to be Gold's Inscriptions: Watermark on laid paper: gothic M with heraldic figure Quantity: 1 watercolour(s).
