Description: Mounted photographs by the Burton Brothers of the junction of Eden and Tees Streets, Oamaru showing St Luke's Church, shops, tram lines and part of the Council Chambers; looking down on the wharves of Port Chalmers with the Presbyterian Church in the right foreground; and the Kakahi Falls, near Tawhata on the Whanganui River. Two smaller mounted photographs of a river in the Catlins District. Three pages from a photograph album holding five photographs of the building of the Arapuni Dam on the Waikato River including the buried forest exposed by the Waikato River diversion. Three loose prints by J W France of an early settlers' cottage made of ponga with a turf roof and with the family outside; a group of six workmen standing on the road they were building with long handled shovels and a boy and a dog in front of them; and the funeral procession of Sir John MacKenzie in 1901 led by a pipe band up the main road in Oamaru working. Description: Shows two huts beside and end of the lake, one with a group of six Maori (probably three men and three women) five of them seated, in front of it. At the entrance way to the other a hut man is about to enter carrying a flat bowl with steam rising from it. In the centre foreground is a three?-legged cauldron. In the lake water at right a figure stands at the back of a canoe. There is a grassy island in the lake and beyond is flat-rolling land partly covered with bush. Description: There is a hand-written index inside the back cover, headed "A.G. Tibbutt, Victoria Studio, Hamilton, Feb. 14, 1907" and inscribed "To Fred & Mary, Nelson". At the end of the index it reads "Further albumns [sic] of views on sale". Fourteen coloured photographs taken during construction of the Raurimu Spiral, between 1898 and 1907. Photographs include Raurimu Town, the main street; the service road at Oio; bridge on the service road at Oio; a "miniature Niagara", Oio service road; the horse-shoe bend, Raurimu; snowed up in Raurimu; canvas-town at Raurimu; bullocks at work; skids moving trees in bush at Kakahi; model camp for the Maketoti [Makatote] Viaduct; Ruapehu from the viaduct; a young boy "the young bushman"; and "Old age & youth (one of Tibbutt's first Maori pictures"). Description: Photographs of Children, Family groups which include Frank, Archie, Hugh, and Jack Nelson, Jack and Frank's houses at Pori and two views of the drive to Jack's house, native forest and an early morning view of the Forty Mile Bush. One group photographs taken in England in about 1885. There are also two letters from Catherine M Nelson written from Pori in 1902, and an envelope containing pressed plant matter.
