Description: Mounted photographs by the Burton Brothers of the junction of Eden and Tees Streets, Oamaru showing St Luke's Church, shops, tram lines and part of the Council Chambers; looking down on the wharves of Port Chalmers with the Presbyterian Church in the right foreground; and the Kakahi Falls, near Tawhata on the Whanganui River. Two smaller mounted photographs of a river in the Catlins District. Three pages from a photograph album holding five photographs of the building of the Arapuni Dam on the Waikato River including the buried forest exposed by the Waikato River diversion. Three loose prints by J W France of an early settlers' cottage made of ponga with a turf roof and with the family outside; a group of six workmen standing on the road they were building with long handled shovels and a boy and a dog in front of them; and the funeral procession of Sir John MacKenzie in 1901 led by a pipe band up the main road in Oamaru working. Description: Shows two huts beside and end of the lake, one with a group of six Maori (probably three men and three women) five of them seated, in front of it. At the entrance way to the other a hut man is about to enter carrying a flat bowl with steam rising from it. In the centre foreground is a three?-legged cauldron. In the lake water at right a figure stands at the back of a canoe. There is a grassy island in the lake and beyond is flat-rolling land partly covered with bush. Description: There is a hand-written index inside the back cover, headed "A.G. Tibbutt, Victoria Studio, Hamilton, Feb. 14, 1907" and inscribed "To Fred & Mary, Nelson". At the end of the index it reads "Further albumns [sic] of views on sale". Fourteen coloured photographs taken during construction of the Raurimu Spiral, between 1898 and 1907. Photographs include Raurimu Town, the main street; the service road at Oio; bridge on the service road at Oio; a "miniature Niagara", Oio service road; the horse-shoe bend, Raurimu; snowed up in Raurimu; canvas-town at Raurimu; bullocks at work; skids moving trees in bush at Kakahi; model camp for the Maketoti [Makatote] Viaduct; Ruapehu from the viaduct; a young boy "the young bushman"; and "Old age & youth (one of Tibbutt's first Maori pictures"). One group photographs taken in England in about 1885. There are also two letters from Catherine M Nelson written from Pori in 1902, and an envelope containing pressed plant matter.
