Description: Sea to the right, with a beach, with two women and a man on horseback. Low bushes in the centre right foreground, in the centre a Maori man in a flax cloak pointing twoards the sea and in conversation with a Pakeha man; two Maori walking away in a red and a black cloak; another man, apparently aiming a slingshot; and two other Maori figures, seated on the ground. Beyond the figures is an undulating plain, probably sandhills. In the distance are several ranks of higher hills. Identification of the location suggested by the strong similarity of the line of hills in the background to those depicted in B-031-030, which Brees has titled Mana Pokerua [i.e. Mana Island and Pukerua] Other Titles - Pokarua Mana Pukerua Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - POKARUA. Description: A surveyed, cadastral map of part section number 25, Lower Hutt, bounded by the intersection of Waiwhetu Road and the old Main Road from Wellington to Wairarapa. The highlighted part section is over 15 perches and built on it is a bank and a small dwelling. It is bounded by property owned by R Cleland (including a store) and H Brandt. The Whitewood's Hotel is opposite. An unsigned handwritten note of length on the map states that the intention is to bring the section boundaries under the provision of the Land Transfer Act, 1870. Description: Topographic map of Mana Island. Includes a low water mark, shingle areas, named rocks, swamps, gullies, un-named streams, karaka grove, a spring, cliffs, undulating tableland and hachures. The paddock adjacent to the landing stage includes a stream, drain, old and new fencelines, a stockyard and government storehouse. The area adjacent to the paddock includes the sites of houses, manager's dwelling house, boathouse, woolshed and gardens. A road leads to a lighthouse and dwelling house, situated at the north-west corner of the island. Sites of three huts are marked.
