Description: Steam locomotive 565, Ww class, type 4-6-4T, built by NZR Hillside. Photograph taken by Albert Percy Godber at the Petone Railway Workshops. Shows the original flat valves which were afterwards removed. This engine entered service on the 16th of January 1914 and was written of in February 1957. (Information from the `Register of New Zealand Steam Locomotives 1863-1971' by W G Lloyd, 1974, page 67.) Note on back of file print reads "As originally fitted with flat valves afterwards removed. Petone Workshops."
