It was later named Mauri-ora after John Joshua (proprietor of the Spa Hotel in Taupo) bought it for use as a lounge, smoking room and dining room. The photographer, A P Godber is standing beside the amo. Photographed by Albert Percy Godber circa 1928. This image is reproduced in "Carved Maori houses of western and northern areas of New Zealand" by William J Phillipps (1955, p 187), which has the inscription "Fig. 112.
