Description: Share certificate for Blackwater Mines Ltd, whose capital was 250,000 pounds. The letterhead / masthead shows ornate lettering and a small sprig of flowering manuka. All print is in red ink. The printer was Crowther & Goodman, 124 Fenchurch Street, London, and the Blackwater company had both a London and a Reefton office. The word "Cancelled" has been punched through the certificate, but does not markedly deface it. Quantity: 1 colour art print(s). Physical Description: Engraving on sheet 238 x 316 mm.

Description: Gold battery known as 'Snowy River Battery' south of Waituta, West Coast. Photographed by Joseph Divis some time in the 1930s. Gold in quartz form was carried by bucket line and tipped into a large bin in the building at the centre. The quartz was crushed by means of stampers. This battery closed down in 1939 and was rebuilt above Waiuta. (Information from Derek French 1968.) Quantity: 1 b&w original photographic print(s). Description: Buildings associated with the north shaft of the Blackwater Mine, Waiuta, looking north, West Coast, New Zealand. The winding room is on the right. Photographed by Joseph Divis circa late 1930s. According to Derek French north shaft was also called \"Pro\" which was short for \"Prohibition.\" This was an electrically driven plant which was commissioned in April 1936 and operated until July 1951. Shaft below headframe at left was reputedly New Zealand's deepest, plumbed 879 metres to a point approximately 300m below sea level.
