Description: The interior of a room in the house of Sir Apirana Ngata. The house was called Te Wharehou, later known as The Bungalow, and he built it for his first wife Arihia at Waiomatatini. The walls are covered with traditional tukutuku and wood carvings. Photographer unidentified. Relationship complexity - Same image as PAColl-0477-06 A Hamilton wrote a book called Maori Art in 1901 which features a house at Waiomatatini but not this photograph.
