Description: Waiouru Military Camp in 1940-1941. Mount Ruapehu is in the background. Photographer unidentified. The bell tents were used in the late winter of 1940, and the early summer of 1941 while 800 Ministry of Works tradesmen built wooden barracks. Given the small ammount of snow on Mount Ruapehu, the photograph was probably taken late January-early March 1941. (Info from John Archer, Waiouru, 2009).
