Description: Brass band at tangi of Tawhiao, at Parawera. Photograph taken 24 September 1894 by Enos Pegler. King Tawhiao died 26 August 1894 at Parawera. He was buried at Taupiri after a tangi in September. On 24 September the tangi was open to pakeha visitors. The photograph was taken that day with a "Facile" camera. Description: Shows Courtenay Place looking towards Taranaki Street. On the left, no 2, are toilet specialists and adjoining that building is No 4 which appears to have several occupants, including F B King, a chemist, F Boffa, a tobacconist, Kodak Supplies, Public Typiste, and a locksmith. In the next block is a cafe showing a sign reading `Refreshments and teas' and further down is Symonds Ltd. On the side of Symonds building is a sign `Quality fresh Butchers'. Sunlight soap have a sign on the next building and farther down is Wilson's Cement. On the left side, across from Wilson, is Martin's and below that, nearer to Taranaki St, Fords have a sign displaying `Morris'. A bus station is surrounded by trees in in the centre of the road.
