Statue of Queen Victoria at Ohinemutu

Date: 1908

Reference: 1/2-001923-G

Description: Shows a bust of Queen Victoria on a carved and decorated plinth protected by a carved and painted canopy, and surrounded by a chain fence. Several young boys and girls are standing in a row in front of the statue performing an action song, accompanied by a boy playing a piano accordion. A flagpole is just visible behind the statue. Photograph taken by William A Price in Jan 1908. An almost identical image at 1/2-001437 William Archer Price lived and practised in Queen Street, Northcote, 1909-1910. Grave of Petera Te Pukuatua at Ohinemutu

Description: View of a memorial erected to the memory of Petera Te Pukuatua. The grave is situated at Ohinemutu near the Tama te Kapua Meeting House and the statue of Queen Victoria. It is surrounded by a wrought iron fence and further enclosed by a white fence. The gravestone has an inscription on one side (from angle of photo it can not be read) and there is a large figure of an angel on top of the plinth. Photograph taken by William A Price in Jan 1908.
