Description: Shows a view looking down a gentle slope between two tall trees, towards a small house with its chimney smoking. At the right, a man descends the path going towards the house, carrying a bundle of firewood over his left shoulder. There is a felled tree trunk lying at the left, and a wooden fence at the extreme right. Attributed to William Hodgkins on the basis of information that he was in the area in 1868, and that he uses similar colours, similar dark outlining of rock edges on a lighter ground, and similar misting effect by watering down the pigment.
