Description: A detailed drawing of the front view of the house and garden of Jabez Marriage Gibson at Omata, Taranaki. The house has a fenced and cleared hill behind and large trees on both sides. Description: Shows fenced pasture in the foreground with two cows and a human figure, a cottage surrounded by bush and trees in the centre, and with Mount Taranaki and surrounding hills in the distance The artist of this version is unknown, but compare with A-256-040 (Cottage of a small farmer, New Plymouth ...), possibly after George Channing Gilbert, and published as a lithograph by Vincent Brooks in Hursthouse's 1857 publication, three years before this work is dated.
