Description: Shows the curve of Palliser Bay looking towards Cape Palliser, with a Maori pa in the left middle distance. Several canoes are drawn up on the land, standing on supports, and several fences have been erected near a dwelling. A European rowing boat (partially erased) is in the sea at the right. Dated from other views of the same area. Inscriptions: Recto - bottom left - [Title] Similar to the view at B-031-018. Quantity: 1 watercolour(s). Physical Description: Watercolour, 225 x 377 mm. Provenance: Sold by McArthur & Company, auction, in 1987, to NZ Insurance, for their boardroom. Prior to that, purchased at Gorringes Auction Galleries, Lewes, Sussex, by dealer John Barkis (Pers. comm. from Brian Groshinski of McArthurs, 14. 8. 98). Miss A. Brees, Brees' descendant had lived in Sussex
