Description: Bank or company's promissory note with ornate border incorporating John Jones' name and places where the company did business. At the top centre is a hanging sheep, flanked by two allegorical seated female figures, one with ears of grain and a cornucopia and one with a spindle and beehive. Accompanying letter explains that the note was issued by the donor's great-grandfather. See the Dictionary of New Zealand biography vol 1 (1990), page 213, about John Jones' issuing of such promissory notes. Quantity: 1 b&w art print(s) on promissory note.
