Context; the controversial subject of foreign ownership of NZ property, particularly farms. Failed Chinese businesswoman May Wang was declared bankrupt by a High Court judge this afternoon after legal proceedings stretching out more than a year. Ms Wang, who fronted the Chinese-backed bid to buy 16 former Crafar dairy farms, owed creditors $22 million following the collapse of her hotel and property business, Dynasty Group. Ms Wang has said bankruptcy would undermine the Hong Kong-based Natural Dairy bid for the Crafar farms.
