Inscriptions: Album page - Train approaching Silverstream. Ww 679. "Ww" class steam locomotive no 679 was built at New Zealand Railways at Hillside, Dunedin (maker's no. 210/19). It went into service in May 1919, was altered in April 1960, and was written off in June 1969. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd.
