Description: The steamship `Tamahine' leaving Wellington on the 14th of November 1938. Taken from the deck of the Awatea, by an unidentified photographer. Inscriptions: Verso - By the number of cars on the deck one would suggest that holidays have started. This is taken frim the boat deck of the Awatea, the difference in size of the two ships is easily seen. 15/11/38 [probably the date of publication in the Evening Post newspaper] The steamship Tamahine was a Cook Strait ferry of 1989 tons.
